Access guidance
- We have ushers on hand to help, and lifts available to help you get to every level of the building. It is a short walk from the entrance to the auditorium.
- Arcola Theatre's main building is fully wheelchair accessible. We accommodate wheelchairs in both studios as well as in our rehearsal rooms. Foyer – Step-free access to the foyer/box office area from the street. Bar – Step-free access by lift from the foyer area. Studio 1 – Step-free access from Ashwin Street. Studio 3 & 4 – Step-free access by lift from the foyer Arcola Outside – Step-free access to the box office area/auditorium from the street. Toilets – All toilets are on the lower level. Step-free access by lift from the foyer. Unfortunately our seating restricts wheelchairs larger than L1065mm x W660mm. Please get in contact with us if you do have a wheelchair larger than this so that one of our team can advise on alternative options.
- .It is a short walk (approx. 10 metres) from the entrance to the doors of Studio 1. It is a further 5 metres to the Arcola bar (including approx 5 steps). From here, you can get a lift down to Studio 2, followed by a 10 metre walk to the entrance of Studio 2, or alternatively you can take the stairs down (which there are approx. 15 steps)
- Unfortunately only one location for toilets, however it is extremely close to the Studio 2 front doors. The toilets are downstairs in the basement. You can either take the lift down to the basement, press 0, or take the stairs. (A member of staff can assist the user with the lift, as it is an access lift rather than a building lift.) If you take the lift, the toilets are on the basement level. Come out of the left and the gents loos are opposite, the gent door is a push door inwards, the ladies loos are on the opposite wall to the right, the ladies loos door is a push door in and the disabled loo is on the right, the door open out to the left. Gents loos: There are two lockable toilets directly opposite – the doors open outwards and there are 4 urinals on the left hand wall. There are two sinks on the right hand wall, hand soap and paper towel dispenser, with a bin underneath. Ladies loos: There are six cubicles which each have a loo and a sink. They are clever water saving loos, the water from the sink is used to flush the loo. The flush is a small button on the side of the sink. Hand towel is on the wall with a bin for waste paper. There are eco sanitary bins for disposal of sanity products, they are tall white tubes which are on the floor and have a small flip lid.
- We allow assistance dogs, however we don't currently offer any facilities for them. If you call ahead with some requirements for your assistance dog, we'd be happy to help.
- We offer free companion tickets. You just need to register as having a free companion in your account on our website.
