Access guidance
- There are lifts and ramps for both sites at the museum. There is restricted access to the Mail Rail ride. This is due to health and safety, as in the case of an emergency evacuation, visitors will need to be able to walk unaided for a minimum of 100 metres on uneven surfaces with minimal lighting, and up at least 70 steep steps. The ride also may not be suitable for visitors who are sensitive to small spaces, motion, loud noises and flashing. For visitors who are unable to ride the Mail Rail Ride, there is a film available to watch at the museum.
- There are no parking spaces or drop off points at the museum. However, there are Blue and Green Badge Holder spaces in the Camden and Islington boroughs, which are closeby to the museum. Information regarding parking can be found on the Accessibility Page of the website.
- There are 3 accessible toilets at the museum: one on the ground floor, and two in the Mail Rail building. The museum also has a Changing Places toilet in the Mail Rail.
- Assistance dogs are welcome at the Postal Museum and water bowls are available upon request
- A free companion ticket is available for all disabled visitors. Information on the different tickets available can be found on the Postal Museum's website.
- The museum offers a Mail Rail Film for people who are unable or do not wish to ride the Mail Rail Ride. There is an audio - described version of the film, which is available upon request.
- Subtitles are provided on most of the films throughout the museum, including the Mail Rail Film.
- The museum has wheelchairs available to borrow. These are on a first- come-first-serve basis or can be booked in advance on: 0300 0300 700. Seating is available throughout the museum and there is a limited number of portable stools.
