Access guidance
- We encourage our visitors to either contact us in advance of their visit or speak to a member of staff on arrival, if they experience difficulty with standing or queueing. Where possible, we will assist customers to the front of long queues, or we will ensure they have access to a chair whilst they wait. We can also offer early access into the auditorium on agreement with the production staff and to ensure they can find their seats comfortably and in a relaxed manner.
- Both our venues have full level access throughout. The Baths Hall has an exterior ramp to the main entrance doors, lifts to the upper level and designated wheelchair spaces within the auditorium, including the balcony area. Customers are advised to contact our box office staff on 01724 296296 for further assistance with locating our wheelchair spaces, when booking tickets. We have wheelchair lifts on both sides of the auditorium to the main seating area. In our bars, we have lowered counter access, as well as at our box office desk. At The Plowright Theatre, we have an exterior ramp to the main doors and a lift to the bar on the second floor. We have designated wheelchair spaces in the auditorium. We also have lowered counters at our bar and box office.
- Distances from accessible car parking spaces and local transport are available to view on our website here, https://www.scunthorpetheatres.co.uk/your-visit/find-us/ Within the venues, all facilities are within a short distance of one another. We have hand rails on our staircases and in our bar areas. If customers require additional support whilst visiting our venues, please ask a member of staff who will be happy to assist.
- We have accessible toilets in both venues which are easily located close to the entrance doors.
- We welcome assistance dogs at our events and if customers are planning to bring an assistance dog with them to our venue, then they can contact us prior to their visit, to discuss your requirements further. Our staff will make arrangements to make sure their dog can stay with them throughout their visit and that appropriate seating is allocated. Customer can do this by either contacting the Box Office or by clicking on the contact us link on our website. Our Assistance Dog policy can be read here: https://www.scunthorpetheatres.co.uk/download/assistance-dogs-policy/
- Where patrons with disabilities need a personal assistant to attend an event with them, the combined cost will be equivalent to the full cost of one ticket. To help us better understand your needs, we are working with Nimbus Disability, to make ticketing and access to Scunthorpe Theatres more inclusive for customers with accessibility requirements. Nimbus' experience in running the Access Card scheme will enable us to ensure that even more people are able to book access tickets at our venues, and that the right tickets are sold to those who are eligible.
- We can provide PDF versions of touring show programmes on request, which can then be printed in large print. We have large print bar menus available. We also have a visual story which can be provided when visiting The Baths Hall.
- We have hearing loops at the box office and in the auditorium at The Baths Hall. Some of our shows have BSL interpreters.
- Many shows which take place at our venue do contain some form of flashing lights. Some also contain strobe or other special effects, including pyrotechnics. We will always endeavour to find out from a touring production in advance, if their show contains such effects, but we do not always obtain these details in advance. However, we will update our websites and social media if we receive this information before a show and will ensure that on the evening of the performance, appropriate signage is in place in our venue. If you have any concerns about an upcoming event, please contact us, call or visit the Baths Hall Box Office, and we will do our best to find out further information from the production team.
