The Old Rep Theatre

Overview

"The Old Rep is a young people driven theatre situated on Station Street in the centre of Birmingham. We present a year-round programme of theatre, dance, comedy, musicals and creative workshops. The Old Rep is an iconic venue that occupies a unique place in theatre history as Britain's first purpose-built repertory theatre. The theatre has been well-preserved and still retains many original features from its early days including a mirror rumoured to have been requested by Sir Laurence Olivier himself! The 385 seater auditorium is an inspirational setting for our varied programme and a must-see for those interested in Birmingham's (and Britain's) theatrical history."

Access Card notes

"At The Old Rep we will do whatever we can to ensure that all visitors enjoy their time with us! If you require any guidance or help getting to your seat please ask one of our Front of House team, dressed in a burgundy t-shirt, who will be happy to help. Due to the age of the theatre and its Grade II listed status, we do have a lot of stairs, no lifts and the auditorium is quite steeply raked. If you are unable to climb stairs we recommend that you use our Hinckley Street entrance for step-free access and do not book seating in the balcony as this is only accessible by stairs."
