Afro Nation
Overview
Launched in 2019 to critical acclaim, Afro Nation is the biggest and best Afrobeats celebration in the world and a fast-growing global cultural influence. The events unite the diaspora and deliver something culturally important to a hugely underserved audience. In 2024, 35,000 music lovers attended Afro Nation Portugal to see the biggest names in Afrobeats, Amapiano, Hip-Hop, R&B, and Dancehall, at one of the most beautiful beach locations on the planet. Afro Nation will be growing its global footprint in 2025 with shows in other continents. Afro Nation is proud to be the first international festival to partner with Nimbus Disability and the Access Card Scheme, ensuring an inclusive and enjoyable experience for all attendees, regardless of accessibility needs. We offer quick entry through dedicated Access Card lanes and assist wheelchair users and those with mobility challenges around the sand and straight to our Accessible Viewing Platform — where the view is unbeatable! For those requiring additional assistance, we provide services to help you bypass queues for refreshments and toilet facilities. Our team is here to ensure your comfort and convenience throughout the event. During the festival, security and staff will be stationed at the Accessible Viewing Platform and throughout the venue to ensure your safety and enjoyment. If you need help at any time, simply approach them for assistance or guidance. Come join us in soaking up the vibrant festival vibes – it's all about having a good time, and we've made sure everyone is included!

Access Card notes
Our Access Application process is simple and user-friendly. Customers with accessibility needs can visit our dedicated registration portal to complete a quick and confidential application. During registration, you'll provide information about your specific access requirements along with evidence to request an Access Card. The Access Team will review your submission and assign appropriate symbols that reflect your needs. Once approved, you'll receive an Access Card ID, which you'll need to purchase an accessible ticket. Before the festival, you will receive your physical Access Card, which discreetly communicates your needs to our staff. To ensure an inclusive and seamless experience at Afro Nation Portugal, we encourage customers with accessibility needs to apply for our Access Card scheme before purchasing your accessibility tickets. Once successfully registered and in possession of the Access Card ID, you can book your accessibility tickets at the bottom of our accessibility page. Please ensure you do not purchase your tickets from our regular booking page. This ensures that we can provide personalised assistance and accommodation tailored to your specific requirements, guaranteeing a comfortable and enjoyable event for everyone.
A free registration is available at this venue as an alternative to an Access Card. Please use the link below to begin your application. Please note, if you already have an Access Card, you don't need to apply again. Simply provide your name and Access Card ID number to the venue. Click here to start your registration
Access guidance
- We have designated entry points for those with mobility issues and our Customer Experience Team (C.E.T) and staff will assist you through the queues. More information will be included in our Access Guide closer to the festival.
- Our Accessible Viewing Platform (AVP) is designed with inclusivity in mind, ensuring you can revel in the vibrant beats and infectious energy without missing a moment. Embracing the spirit of unity and celebration, our platform is situated in our General Admission area facing the main stage and is open to Access Card Holders with their +1 Essential Companion. Ramp access, wheelchair-friendly toilets, and the electrifying vibes are what define our platforms. Operating on a first-come, first-served basis, our platforms are in high demand, especially when the music reaches its peak. If the platform reaches full capacity, we seamlessly transition to a one-in, one-out policy. This ensures a dynamic flow of energy and guarantees that everyone gets a chance to experience the magic of Afro Nation Portugal.
- Our festival is on fine sand throughout the venue. However, we have a trackway in our General Admission area to the Accessible Viewing Platform (AVP) and seating available around the venue.
- You will find accessible toilets on our Accessible Viewing Platform (AVP) and throughout Afro Nation. The locations of these toilets will be provided in our information pack which will be sent to you via email prior to the festival.
- Customers with the +1 symbol on their Access Card are eligible for a complimentary Essential Companion ticket. To secure your ticket, follow these simple steps: Application Process: When completing your Access Application Form, be sure to apply for an Essential Companion ticket. Ticket Purchase: You don't need to buy a separate Essential Companion ticket. However, ensure you've purchased your own ticket after successfully receiving your Access card ID. Once your ticket is confirmed, we will contact you to collect your companion's details. Refunds: Since this ticket is complimentary, it is non-refundable. Responsibilities: Your Essential Companion will be your guide throughout the festival, assisting with your specific needs. From ensuring your comfort to helping in emergencies or evacuations, they've got your back—and so do we! Approval Process: All Essential Companions must be approved by The Access Card Team. For any questions, feel free to contact us via our contact form www.afronation.com/contact
- Our large visual displays are strategically placed throughout the venue, featuring important announcements that keep you in the loop.
- We have designated quiet zones to take a breather, recharge, and immerse yourself in a peaceful atmosphere at Afro Nation. The locations of these zones will be outlined in your information pack and Access Guide. During the festival, security and staff will be stationed at the Accessible Viewing Platform and throughout the venue to ensure your safety and enjoyment. If you need help at any time, simply approach them for assistance or guidance. We also offer a 24-hour medical centre for first aid, along with an on-site field hospital staffed by doctors, nurses, paramedics, and mental health professionals. Our medical team is supported by foot patrols and 4x4 ambulances, ensuring rapid response across the festival grounds. Our medical centres are equipped to handle everything from minor injuries to more serious medical emergencies, functioning much like a traditional A&E department. Festival ambulance buggies and paramedics are on standby for added support. Additionally, we provide a pharmacy service at the medical centre, offering over-the-counter items such as paracetamol, ibuprofen, plasters, tampons, and condoms. Afro Nation Portugal may feature smoke machines, strobe lights, lasers, fireworks, and other dazzling effects to amplify the experience. Attendees sensitive to these elements are kindly advised to take note, and plan accordingly. For those bringing essential medication to Afro Nation Portugal, we encourage you to plan ahead for a worry-free experience. Consider bringing a copy of your doctor's letter or prescription, and ensure your medication is kept in its original packaging. We understand the importance of proper storage, and for those requiring cold storage, rest assured that fridges will be available. Your health is paramount, and to facilitate a seamless festival experience. Feel free to reach out to us if you require any medication storage needs.
