Exploris is a public aquarium situated in Portaferry, Northern Ireland. The facility is located on the shores of the Marine Nature reserve of Strangford Lough, which is an important winter migration destination for many wading and sea birds.

Access guidance
- We have standard queuing traffic light system. Prior contact can be made with reception regarding any additional requirements that patrons may require. We can also offer chairs for visitors who may require them. We endeavour to ensure our visitors don't have long wait time for entry.
- Our building is fully wheelchair accessible and we also have a small number of chairs available onsite which can be reserved free of charge. Fire doors are fitted with automatic door buttons, disabled access/wheelchair friending toilets are available throughout the building and we have 2 lifts at either side of the site for ease of access to ground and first floors.
- As an indoor and outdoor tourist attraction (Aquarium). There are short to medium distances between each of the displays and enclosures. We have limited seating available between certain exhibits and have picnic tables available throughout the outdoor area where patrons can rest as required.
- We have 2 X set of public toilets available within the indoor areas of the building and full assessable outdoor toilets available next to our picnic area.
- Unfortunately, due to the health and wellbeing of our animals held onsite, at this time we are unable to accommodate assistance dogs. Although, at this time we don't allow assistance dogs due to the wellbeing & health of our residents we always try to do our upmost to assist in anyway we can for those with impairments.
- We offer free entry to those who require a carer during their visit.
- We have staff on the floor throughout the day who are available to answer questions. We also offer set feed & talk times throughout the day where patrons are given to opportunity to learn more about some of our friends here in the aquarium.
- At this time we can't provide language interpreters. However, the majority of our tanks and exhibits have static information screens/boards. We also have printed language guides available for those who first language isn't English.
- We have a Fully Licensed Restaurant the Kraken Bar & Grill Onsite (Open 11AM-5PM - Daily) Last hot food orders 4PM. We also have a fully stocked Gift Shop offering a wide range of aquatic themed and pocket change items.
