Brodsworth Hall and Gardens
Overview
"Catch a glimpse of Victorian life at this 'conserved as found' country house. Brodsworth Hall was built and the pleasure gardens laid out, in the 1860s, as an up-to-date new home for the Thellusson family and their servants. It survived with remarkably few changes until taken on by English Heritage in 1990. The gardens have been restored, and the faded and worn interiors gently conserved, telling the story of the changing fortunes of the people who lived and worked here. Wander the many rooms of the house, roam the gorgeous gardens, stop for tea in the tearoom, and discover the recently restored game larder."

Access guidance
- Seating and rest points are located around the hall and grounds and there are handrails throughout the venue.
- All the ground floor is level and there is lift access to first-floor family bedrooms (but visitors need to negotiate steps to reach the servants' bedrooms). The original Victorian lift makes the first floor accessible, but can only take one wheelchair at a time due to weight restrictions. The terrace and formal gardens are accessed on tarmac paths, but the Quarry gardens have self-binding gravel paths. Manual wheelchair users are advised to bring an assistant. Level access to the exhibition. Shop and tearoom with ramped access.Pathways are mainly tarmac, some are gravel and all are flat. There are stone stairs from ground floor to first floor in the Servants' Wing. Stairs from Main Hall ground floor to first floor of Main Hall, and from first floor of Main Hall across to first floor of Servants' Wing. Some of the treads are very smooth and worn. However, there is a small Victorian lift to the first floor. Only one wheelchair at a time. Parking or set down outside the hall is only allowed on non-event days. Wheelchairs are available to loan.
- There are five disabled parking spaces directly outside the hall. If these are full, there is a golf buggy service available from the main car park. Please note: Parking or set down outside the hall is only allowed on non-event days. There is a golf buggy available on site to aid the mobility impaired.
- There are accessible toilets at the venue.
- Assistance Dogs are welcome.
- Induction loops in the shop and admission point.
- Traffic on site is limited to a golf buggy for mobility impaired people between the car park and Hall and for access to the disabled parking directly outside the Hall.
