Access guidance
- The Palace of Versailles and its various areas are accessible to wheelchair users and people with reduced mobility. Lifts serve all levels of the Palace of Versailles that are open to visitors. Flat benches are available to sit on in reception and museum areas. Wheelchairs are available at the Palace of Versailles (Gabriel Pavilion) and the Petit Trianon for tours of the ground floor only. At the Grand Trianon, only the interior spaces can be visited. Restaurants are accessible to wheelchair users. Do let staff know when you arrive.
- A pedestrian walkway runs through the centre of the Honour Courtyard at the Palace of Versailles from the Honour Gate, providing easier access to the Royal Gate and, from there, to the entrance for priority visitors. Please don't hesitate to ask the staff at the Palace gate for help with access.
- Accessible toilet facilities are available at various locations around the Palace and in the reception areas.
- Entrance is free for you and a companion on presentation of a permit, such as a mobility card. To avail of free entry, please go to entrance A.
- Guide or assistance dogs are permitted. Toilet facilities are fitted with audible alarms in case of emergency. Lifts are fitted with mirrors and feature audible floor announcements. In the reception area in the Dufour Pavilion, at entrance A, visitors are free to explore 3D models and tactile maps with characters in Braille and large type depicting the Palace of Versailles and its Estate. - The counters in Reception are accessible and fitted with induction loops. Toilet facilities are fitted with a flashing beacon in case an external alarm is sounded. Audio guides are fitted with induction loops and a volume-control device. Among other things, they include an audio description of the tactile frieze installed in the first room of the Gallery of the History of the Palace. Visual guides in French Sign Language (FSL) are available for tours of the King's State Apartments and the Hall of Mirrors.
