Access guidance
- There is level entrance through the front doors of the theatre, two of the doors are opened manually and one of the doors is automatic with a touch pad located to the left hand side. The Grand Opera House does not have its own parking facilities. However there are two disabled parking bays on Glengall Street and a number of disabled parking bays in The Great Northern multistory car park situated behind the Europa Hotel, accessible via Sandy Row and Hope Street. Mc Causland's Car Park, located on Grosvenor Road, is open to midnight, Monday - Friday, and 11.00pm on Sunday. There is limited on-street parking on Great Victoria Street, There is no drop off point outside the theatre on Great Victoria Street; however there is a drop off point outside The Fitzwilliam Hotel on the Grosvenor Road. There are dropped kerbs from all of the car parks to the front doors of the theatre.
- Accessible unisex toilets are situated on all levels with the exception of 'The Gods' level and are equipped with grab rails, sink lever operated taps, low level mirrors and pull cord alarms.
- Assistance dogs are welcome in the theatre. Please inform us when booking tickets that you will have an assistance dog and we can arrange the most suitable seat for you.
- The Grand Opera House offers a companion seat to those customers who require essential assistance while in the theatre. You must be a member of our Access for All Scheme to avail of this and these must be booked through box office directly. Your companion is expected to assist you with evacuation in the event of an emergency.
- Audio Described Performances These are for people who are blind or partially sighted. The live description is transmitted through a headset worn by the customer. The description brings alive what is happening on stage. Please ask at Box Office for headsets. Large print, DAISY, audio and Braille versions of our season brochure are available on request. - The theatre's auditorium, box office and bar areas are equipped with an induction loop system. Please switch your hearing aid to T position if you need to the system. An infra-red system is also available for the main auditorium for which headsets and necklaces are available from box office; a refundable deposit of £5.00 is required for these on collection and will be refunded with the return of the headset at the end of the performance. You will be asked for your contact details just in case they are not returned. With the infra-red system the necklace can be used by hearing aid users, you should switch your hearing aid to T for this; headsets can be used by people requiring sound amplification.
