We're an organisation that has a national reputation for work in access and inclusion, for pioneering the actor musician form and we have a huge impact on the public and cultural life of Ipswich and beyond. Our 400-seater midscale auditorium is perfectly formed being both epic and intimate, as such it delivers the most impactful, exhilarating, and stimulating of shows – there's not a bad seat in the house.

Access guidance
- The theatre has step free access to all area's in our foyer and into the auditorium. For each performance we are able to have up to 6 adjustable spaces available for Wheelchair users. There are 2 positions available either side of Row C with a seat for an assisting companion next to each position. There is 1 position available either side of Row K also with a seat for an companion next to it. These seats can be accessed via a lift to the first floor. There is an accessible toilet on both levels on the theatre. The theatre also has a wheelchair available to use if required
- On the ground floor, male and our accessible & gender neutral toilets are on the left side of the auditorium down a short corridor and our female toilets are to the right side. Upstairs there are two individual cubicles on the left side of the auditorium, both are gender neutral and one is accessible. These can be accessed at all times during a visit
- Assistance Dogs are welcome at the theatre and can either sit with you or we are happy to look after them during the performance. We have a water bowl and there is a grassed area outside our theatre for toileting.
- Essential (Assisting) Companion tickets are free of charge to anyone who requires one and no proof is needed by to access these. If you are booking access tickets with us for the first time, you will need to follow these steps: Step 1 – Get logged in or sign up for an account on our website – https://www.wolseytheatre.co.uk/your-account/ Step 2 – Go to the tab called 'Other Preferences', under the heading Venue Accessibility check the box 'Require An Assisting Companion' as well as any other of the options that apply to you and your needs. Step 3 – Now that you have this preference saved, you can book for your next show and your assisting companion ticket will be free of charge. As long as you have an assisting companion ticket AND one of the access concessions applied (British Sign Language User, Audio Description User, Captioning User or Disabled ticket types)
- The theatre offers audio described performances throughout the year. Discounted tickets are available for AD users and free assisting companion tickets are also available. The audio description is provided through a headset which will be available to collect from the box office upon arrival at the theatre. These are free or charge. Where there is a pre-show introduction, this will be sent out to you the day before in your pre-show information email. The theatre also has an induction loop which can be collected from the box office upon arrival at the theatre. You will then be able to connect this is your hearing aid. We also offer an AD flyers for all shows which include AD at the start of a season.
- The theatre offers a number British Sign Language interpreted performances throughout the year. Discounted tickets are available for BSL users and free assisting companion tickets are also available. When booking, look for the 'i' symbol which indicates to seats we think will give you the best view of the interpreter for each performance. We also offer BSL flyers for all shows which include BSL at the start of a season.
