Overview
The SSE Hydro plays host to national and international music megastars as well as global entertainment and sporting events. With a seated capacity of 12,000, The SSE Hydro augments the SEC's existing facilities and stages 140+ events annually. Attracting an audience of more than a million visitors each year, the venue is consistently ranked by Pollstar in the top 10 arenas globally, alongside iconic venues like Madison Square Garden and The O2. Since opening in September 2013, The SSE Hydro has staged the 2014 MTV Europe Music Awards, the Ryder Cup Gala Concert and the 2014 BBC Sports Personality of the Year. It was also a venue for the 2014 Commonwealth Games.

Access guidance
- If you have your own wheelchair and wish to bring it to an event you're welcome to do so. The venue do have a small number of wheelchairs available to borrow, but these are available on a first-come, first-served basis*. Please note that wheelchairs can only be borrowed for one event day at a time. Collection and drop off is at the following points: SEC Centre – cloakroom on the main concourse SEC Armadillo – from stewards in the ground floor lobby The SSE Hydro – the Information Desk across from main entrance **Please note: Requests must be made 48 hours in advance of your event. If the request is not made within that time, it will be subject to availability on the day of your event.
- There are a number of accessible toilets on the ground floor and Level 2 of the venue. Radar keys for accessible toilets are available from stewards, or may be purchased from the Information Desk. A Changing Places Toilet is available in the West lobby of Level 2. This is accessible by radar key. Radar keys are available from stewards, or may be purchased from the Information Desk on the ground floor.
- The SEC welcomes visitors with assistance dogs. We would ask that assistance dogs are clearly identifiable around the campus. Facilities are available for assistance dogs on request.
- The Box Office has an induction loop system. An infrared loop system is available in blocks 204, 205, 206, 213, 214 & 215 on Level 2, but operation is dependent on each individual event or performance so provision can vary. For more information about the availability of the infrared loop system in the venue please email info@sec.co.uk. Infrared receivers are available to borrow from the Information Desk on the ground floor.
