Access guidance
- The abbey is a predominantly outdoor site and exposed to the vagaries of the British weather. There may be some queuing at the entrance but this is generally minimal. Throughout 2024 there is a temporary entrance in use which has a slope some users may find challenging but not impassable.
- The site is generally level and contains paths throughout. Access to the museum is via a low gradient slope. AN accessible toilet is provided. There are some slopes throughout the site which may be challenging to wheelchair users but these can be avoided.
- The site is 36 acres and predominantly outdoors. Be aware of the weather conditions for the day as shelter is minimal. The experience of the site begins as soon as you enter and the ruins are not far from either the main entrance or the temporary entrance.
- Toilet facilities are available but are some distance from the 2024 temporary entrance. There are public toilets just outside the walls of the abbey. For special events temporary toilets are brought in and several accessible toilets are located throughout the grounds.
- Dogs are welcome at Glastonbury Abbey and there are bins, water bowls and treats (if permitted by the owner)
- Essential carers or personal assistants receive free entry. For special events details are provided on the event listing.
